Pets

One of the keys to a killer submission contest is to make it simple for your users. One way to do that is by choosing a subject people already have photos or videos of. Our must-do suggestion? Pets, pets, and more pets! People love their pets, which means they’ve got albums chock-full of pet snapshots. Go with a standard “Cutest Dog Ever” contest, or add a theme like “Halloween Kitties,” “Christmas Pets,” or “Dog Days of Summer.”

We wanted to sell season long packages that would include spots in every Saturday game and the All-Star Game. To accomplish this we ran a pet photo contest that included a baseball spin. The pets needed to be dressed in their favorite team’s accessories. The prizes were traded for including a credit at a local sports ticket company that could be redeemed for baseball tickets. This was a wildly successful contest for us. We sold four season long packages. Before this the station had never sold a season package. All spots were OTO’s. Three of these four were either new or had never bought baseball.” – Eric Turner, Local Sales Manager
